Maruti Suzuki to launch Toyota Innova HyCross based premium MPV
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed the launch of their upcoming flagship vehicle, a premium MPV based on the Toyota Innova HyCross. The new vehicle will go on sale in India by July 2023.
There have been rumours since a long while about the rebadged Innova HyCross to be launched by Maruti Suzuki. Now the confirmation of launch has caught huge attentions since it will be the most premium vehicle for the carmaker.
Until now after the Toyota-Suzuki alliance, it was Maruti Suzuki that supplied rebadged vehicles to Toyota including the Vitara Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara as Urban Cruiser, Glanza and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. However, Innova HyCross will be the first Toyota vehicle supplied to Maruti Suzuki in a rebadged avatar.
We expect mild cosmetic changes compared to the HyCross. First of all, the name will be different of course. Then there will be Maruti Suzuki logo across the car. The grille is expected to change along with the bumper.
The interior is expected to get some colour changes. However, the features are expected to be the same as offered in the Innova HyCross.
It will be made at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka and supplied to Maruti Suzuki. The premium MPV will be retailed via the Nexa network.
Maruti Suzuki Chairman RC Bhargava claims that it won’t be a high selling model. Maruti will offer the same petrol and strong hybrid engine options with the MPV.
