The Smartplay infotainment system has some issues on the range topping Z+ variants of the Ciaz and deliveries for the model will commence by January 2015.
Maruti Suzuki will commence deliveries of the range topping Z+ petrol and diesel variants of the newly launched Ciaz sedan most likely by January 2015. The delay has been resulted due to some issue with the Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system that is exclusively available on the top-end model. With the ZXi+ and ZDi+ models put on indefinite hold, the temporary top-end model will be the Z (O) trim that sports most of the features from the Z+ variants, excluding the questionable Smartplay system. We got in touch with a few dealers who confirmed they aren’t receiving Z+ variants of the Ciaz.
The Maruti Ciaz Z+ variants have also not been on the product’s website including the prices and feature list. However, being the range topping variants, the ZXi+ and ZDi+ will come loaded with 16-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob and the Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system. The variant also features other goodies such as projector headlamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs, keyless entry, start-stop function, steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, dual front airbags with ABS and EBD as standard, among other equipment.
Under the hood, the Maruti Ciaz is powered by the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine producing 92.45 PS of power and 130 Nm of torque, while the 1.3-litre diesel makes 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. Both the engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol version also comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car is also the most frugal vehicle in its class offering a mileage of 20.73 km/l on the petrol and 26.21 km/l on the diesel. Prices for the Ciaz sedan start at Rs. 6.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi and introductory).
