The safety features have been added on the base variants of the Ciaz and Maruti Suzuki says the same has been done in order to encourage customers to buy cars that enhance safety.
In a bid to emphasise on safety inside cars, Maruti Suzuki has launched two new variants – VXi (O) and VDi (O) with additional safety features on the Ciaz C-segment sedan in the country with prices starting from Rs. 7.48 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new variants sit a notch above the base trims and come equipped with features including dual front airbags, ABS, seatbelt pre-tensioner and force limiters as well as a driver side seatbelt reminder with a buzzer. Compared to higher trims, you miss out on rear parking sensors and EBD.

The new VXi (O) is priced at a Rs. 17,000/- premium over the standard VXi variant, whereas the the VDi (O) is priced at a Rs. 14,500/- premium over the base diesel model. In addition, the variants come with the necessary features including an audio system with 6 speakers, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear AC vents, manual air-con, MID unit and much more.
Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz continues with the same 1.4-litre K-Series petrol motor producing 91 BHP and 130 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission. Diesel power comes from the new and improved 1.3-litre motor with the SHVS system that churns out 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual. The Ciaz is also one of the more fuel efficient vehicles in its class returning 20.73 km/l on the petrol (manual) and 19.12 km/l on the automatic, while the diesel thanks to the new hybrid tech now returns a leading 28.09 km/l.
