According to recent reports, pre-bookings will commence in July, one month ahead of the Ciaz facelift India launch.
Launched back in 2014, the Maruti Ciaz has been a runaway success for the carmaker in India. The model was shifted to NEXA in April last year but this move doesn’t seem to be enough to hide the car’s age especially in front of recently refreshed competitors. There have been some spottings of the Ciaz facelift in the past and latest reports on the internet point towards an official launch in August 2018.
Earlier, the Maruti Ciaz facelift India launch was speculated to take place at the 2018 Auto Expo but the manufacturer decided to focus on the more important third-gen Swift at that time. Pre-bookings for the 2018 Ciaz are expected to commence from July onwards. Since this version is a mid-life facelift, exterior changes would be limited to revisions to the front and rear ends along with a new set of alloy wheels.
On the inside, the dashboard layout is likely to remain unaltered with minor changes in the form of a new trim finish, different upholstery design and some feature additions. The talking point of this facelift, however, remains the in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine that will replace the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. Reports also suggest that a new 1.5-litre petrol engine will be replacing the current 1.4-litre unit.
Prices are said to be ‘different’ than the outgoing car, although we expect a small hike on all the variants. Currently, the price for the Ciaz ranges from Rs. 8 lakhs to Rs. 11.93 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
