Maruti Suzuki has equipped the Celerio ZXi with an AMT unit on the occasion of the car’s first anniversary in the country. The ZXi variant of the Celerio AMT is priced at Rs. 4.99 lakhs.
Launched in April last year, Maruti Suzuki completed the first anniversary of the Celerio hatchback in India and to commemorate the occasion, the automaker has launched the Celerio ZXi Auto Gear Shift (AGS) variant in the country. The ZXi variant is the top-of-the-line trim available on the Celerio and was earlier only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The top-end Celerio now comes loaded with a host of creature comforts and safety features, along with the convenience of clutchless operation.
The Maruti Celerio ZXi AMT gets no exterior changes, save for the badge at the rear but comes loaded with keyless entry, tilt steering wheel with mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity, electrically adjustable rearview mirrors, rear window wiper and washer. In terms of safety, the top-end variant gets dual front airbags but ABS has been omitted. Maruti had initially launched the AMT unit on the LXi and VXi trims of the Celerio and it was rather surprising to not have the automatic unit on the top-of-the-line trim.
Other features and powertrain remain the same and the Maruti Celerio ZXi is powered by the 1.0-litre three-cylinder K-Series petrol engine that produces 68 PS of power and 90 Nm of torque and returns an ARAI fuel efficiency figure of 23.1 km/l. The AMT unit is sourced from Magneti Marelli. The company has priced the Celerio AMT ZXi at Rs. 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Apart from the ZXi AMT trim, Maruti will also be launching the diesel powered Celerio later this month that is expected to return close to 30 km/l.
