Images of the Maruti Baleno RS show the car undisguised ahead of its launch in India.
The 2016 Auto Expo witnessed Maruti showcasing its hot hatch, the Baleno RS. It did quite look the Baleno, but in a more meaner way and kitted. Maruti is all geared up to launch the Baleno RS next week and the vehicle has been spotted without any sort of camouflage by Pranav Radhakrishnan.
The Maruti Baleno RS looks very similar to the regular Baleno, but does come well-kitted to differentiate it from the latter. At the front, it gets a new mesh grille and redesigned bumper with black sporty looking extensions. At the side, the 16-inch alloy wheels have undergone a black treatment and there are side skirts too. Get to the rear of the car and you will notice that it too has undergone some changes. There is a new sportier looking bumper with faux honeycomb inserts.
The interiors remain the same as in the Maruti Baleno, but wondering where are the major changes? It’s right under the hood. It comes with the much-awaited 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engine. This is a 3-cylinder 998cc petrol motor that puts out 100 HP of power and 150 Nm of torque.
The Baleno RS’ engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, and yes there is no automatic variant as of now, but may be offered at a later point of time. Braking is via a four-wheel disc setup, which is an added advantage for a performance car like this, and also does a fair bit of justice to the RS badge.
The Maruti Baleno RS will come in an additional Black/Blue paint scheme, and rest of the other colors will be available as usual. The Maruti Baleno RS will go head on against the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and Fiat Abarth Punto.
