Maruti Suzuki has added a new variant to the Baleno line-up, the Zeta petrol automatic which gives automatic hatchback buyers the option to get all the bells and whistles.
The Maruti Baleno has been a terrific sales hit for India’s largest car maker. The popularity of Maruti Suzuki’s flagship hatchback is such that waiting periods are high which is shocking for a car of this price and positioning. The Indo-Japanese company is now considering the manufacturing of the Baleno at its upcoming Gujarat plant while also producing the vehicle at the existing facility in the north. Such is the demand for the Maruti Baleno.
When Maruti launched the Baleno in October 2015, it was offered with just one variant in automatic avatar, the Delta trim. Now Maruti has given the Baleno petrol automatic the Zeta trim, the model has been priced at Rs. 7.48 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). This means that automatic hatchback buyers no longer need to compromise on the equipment they get.
The Delta trim is lower than Zeta with the latter also getting UV cut glass, chrome door handles, front foglamps, alloy wheels, follow-me home headlights, automatic headlights, auto dimming inside mirror, telescopic steering adjustment, height adjustable driver’s seat, front centre arm rest with storage, glovebox illumination, boot light, keyless go, push button start and a colour TFT screen for the MID.
Powering the Maruti Baleno automatic is a 1.2-litre K-series engine which outputs 85 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque, matched to a CVT gearbox. The claimed ARAI mileage is rated at 21.4 km/l which is the same as the manual model. The Alpha is the top-of-the-line trim in the Baleno line-up which is reserved to manual variants.
