Maruti Baleno full hybrid model is in the works.
With the gradual transfer from ICE vehicles to EV and hybrid vehicles the Indian automotive industry is experiencing a far fetched change on a positive note. The modernized norms and standards have set the automakers on a run for developing new technology for upcoming EVs and hybrid successors of the on-going ones.
It’s no secret anymore that the ICE vehicle segment will soon be dominated by the EVs. In recent news, Maruti Baleno full-hybrid model was spotted testing. The Baleno full hybrid was just a test mule running on a variety of battery options on a test by component brand Bosch for compatibility and running range trials.
The Baleno full-hybrid featured Bosch, sHEV 48V and e-drive stickers. Breaking down the sticker bombing on car, it indicates the contribution of Bosch for the numerous batteries used in the test. The sHEV 48V sticker is for the ‘strong hybrid’ powertrain. The e-drive sticker assures the Baleno to have a fully electric mode, but with a limited range.
Although the most important point here is the Maruti Baleno will house a full hybrid system and not a mild hybrid like the on-going model wearing an SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) badge and will result in higher fuel economy when compared to the on-going one.
With this process on the go, the Maruti siblings housing a full hybrid system is likely to be on charts.
