All variants of the Maruti Baleno currently command a waiting period of two months including the petrol and diesel models and the CVT trim as well.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno made its entry in the country at an extremely competitive starting price of Rs. 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The automaker’s first attempt at making a premium hatchback has gone down well with the masses as the model clocked a healthy 4600 bookings within just 2 days after launch. Rivalling the Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo in the segment, the Baleno is off to a good start, so much so that it currently commands a waiting period of around two months.
Sold exclusively via NEXA dealerships, the Maruti Baleno has a waiting period of up to two months on both petrol and diesel models across all trim levels. Incidentally, the petrol model equipped with the CVT transmission is also witnessing strong demand. Furthermore, dealers are encouraging customers to opt for higher variants instead of going for the base Sigma trim. The mid-level Zeta also manages to offer a higher value for money quotient.
The Maruti Baleno is the second offering to be sold via NEXA dealerships with India being the first market to get the premium hatchback globally after its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The hatchback is based on an all-new light-weight platform, which makes the Baleno around 100 kgs lighter than the Swift and helps extract more performance from the tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines.
The Maruti Baleno is available in four variants namely Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The top-of-the-line trim gets projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch alloys (also available on the Zeta) and SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. Given the strong initial demand, Maruti is optimistic that the Baleno will be able to top the sales chart in the premium hatchback space. Despite a marginal increase expected after the festive season, if Maruti keeps prices aggressive, the Baleno just might be able to overtake the current best seller, the Hyundai Elite i20.
