The modified Maruti Alto duo from Kerala, dressed up as hot hatches, are gaining popularity by the day.
The entry-level hatchback Alto is often termed as the cash cow for Maruti Suzuki. Making its India debut in the year 2000, this car has remained a strong seller for all these years and is sold in a new generation christened as the Alto 800 since 2012. It’s uncommon to see a Maruti Alto modified to such an extent as seen in these images and a video which are trending on media platforms these days.
The video showcases two brightly coloured previous generation Maruti Altos which were sold from 2004 to late 2012. The yellow car belongs to Ananthuraj and features a wide body kit, 15-inch alloy wheels, lowering springs, HKS exhaust and scissor doors. These modifications lend it a sporty look, further improved by the funky body colour. Dual exhaust ports at the rear are only for aesthetics, we assume.
The bright green coloured car features the same modifications except for the scissor doors and lowering springs. The alloy wheels on this one are one size smaller and adopt a different design but go well with the bright colour of the car. There are no details about any engine mods on any of these cars.
Going by the trends down South, some changes under the hood are likely to add go to match the show. The Alto has never been known for its performance, save for the 1.1-litre engine version which was launched way back in 2001 and soon discontinued and the other 796cc engine develops 46 BHP of power and 62 Nm of torque. The 3-pot F8D motor is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
