According to our friends at OnCars, Maruti Suzuki is preparing a facelift of the Alto K10, which is expected to be launched this festive season. The Maruti Alto K10 was launched in August 2010 and since then it has remained unchanged. This will be the first facelift for the Alto K10 with a mild makeover to push sales. Expect the facelift to have minor changes such as beige interiors, new upholstery, updated audio system and similar basic tweaks on the outside as well.
In October 2011, Maruti Suzuki introduced a limited edition Alto K10 Xplore that came with additional features such as double-DIN music system with AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, artificial leather seats, aluminium doors sills, rear spoiler and body graphics. In December 2012, the carmaker introduced a similar limited edition Alto K10 Knightracer trim featuring additional body graphics, rear spoiler, full wheel covers, new seat covers and music system to boost up the sales.
The facelifted Maruti Alto K10 is likely to be launched without any mechanical changes. It features a 998cc, KB-series petrol engine that produces 67 BHP of power at 6200 RPM and 90 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Alto K10 and Alto 800 together contribute the biggest volumes in the Indian market every month and to maintain the top spot, frequent makeovers are necessary. The Alto K10 comes with a starting price of Rs. 3.21 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
