Maruti will not update the Alto K10 to BS6 norms, S-Presso will take its position instead.
First introduced in 2010, the Maruti Alto K10 received a major facelift and the introduction of AMT in 2014. In 2019, the Alto K10 received its last update which included mandatory safety measures such as ABS with EBD, high-speed alert system and driver, co-driver seat belt reminder. Recently, the Alto K10 along with the Alto achieved the 38 lakh unit sales milestone.
The Alto K10 is powered by a BS4-compliant 1.0-litre K10B engine which develops 67 PS at 6000 RPM and 90 Nm at 3500 RPM. This unit comes mated to a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The car also comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
Dealers across the country have stopped bookings for the Alto K10. The reason why Maruti has decided to pull the plug on the Alto K10 is that it already sells the S-Presso which is doing good in terms of sales. Moreover, the small car comes with a raised ground clearance, touchscreen music system and better seat comfort than the Alto K10. The S-Presso is updated with a BS6 compliant engine as well.
The Alto K10’s prices start at Rs. 3.70 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and extend up to Rs. 4.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai), while the S-Presso is priced in the range of Rs. 3.71-4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
