Maruti Suzuki has launched the much awaited A-Star. The A-Star was initially expected to be launched in October, but due the poor economic conditions postponed to November. Maruti has followed its usual style of introductory pricing (ex-showroom) by offering the base LXi variant for Rs. 3.47 lacs, the VXi for Rs. 3.75 lacs and the ZXi for Rs. 4.12 lacs.
The A-Star has been launched in three variants LXi, VXi and ZXi. The ZXi gets all the bells and whistles from ABS, EBD, Rear Defogger to Dual Airbags. Maruti has really made the car look so much value for money that Hyundai won’t find it easy to sell the i10. On paper the A-Star does look very good but we really can’t say much about the A-Star till we drive it.
The A-Star is completely made in India and will be sold worldwide in more then 150 countries. It is the new Alto in the European markets. The 998cc K10B petrol engine produces 67PS of power @ 6200RPM and 90NM of torque @ 3500RPM. The 155/80/R13 tires are more suited for ride and fuel efficiency than handling and grip. Stay tuned for a review on the A-Star.
