Mahindra has chosen the XUV700 moniker for its upcoming XUV500 successor set to be launched in the second quarter of this fiscal year. A logo of the same has also been revealed.
Code-named W601, the SUV has been built on an all-new platform and is poised to, claims Mahindra, raise the bar on technology, performance and safety in its segment.
A video of the logo reveal has been posted by the manufacturer on social media in which it claims to have rejected over 200 proposed designs for the XUV700 before finalising on 1.
In addition, the carmaker reveals there are 30 electronic brains in the SUV and that it took 3 years for its technicians to get the new touchscreen right.
The Mahindra XUV700 (pronounced as XUV, 7 double ‘oh’) will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines and manual and automatic transmissions, while all-wheel-drive will be optional.
It marks the beginning of the next-generation of Mahindra SUVs which are claimed to be sophisticated products. The XUV700 will come with first-in-segment features as well.
The SUV will be made at the company’s manufacturing facility at Chakan in Maharashtra and will primarily rival cars like the new generation Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus.
