Mahindra’s 155cc Engined Utility Bike Spied On Test

To stand in the most competitive segment of two-wheelers in India, Mahindra’s new 155cc engine is under road testing for its upcoming utility bike.

The first look at the spy shots of the bike clearly reveals its utility bike features

Mahindra two-wheelers came into existence after the company bought over Kinetic SYM in 2008. Since then, Mahindra has strived hard to maintain a prominent position in the two-wheeler market. It introduced the Gusto in 2014 which is said to be completely developed by Mahindra itself. Now, Mahindra two-wheelers is trying to step in the 150-160cc segment of bikes which is undoubtedly the most yielding category with a large number of available options from various bike manufacturers. Recently, Mahindra was caught testing its new 160cc motorcycle in Pune, Maharashtra.

The motorcycle which is being put up on road tests is powered by a brand new, self-made 155cc engine. Spy shots clearly reveal that the new motor is being tested for a utility bike as it has a luggage carrier, twin shock absorbers at the rear and also a simple instrument console. Moreover, the wider rear tyre will give it an edge when compared to other utility bikes and may attract the sporty commuters too. The engine will deliver a power of around 15 BHP and the low kerb weight may provide a good power to weight ratio which is the key quality of good utility bikes.

Mahindra two-wheelers is believed to have developed this new engine all by itself. This is in accordance with the Gusto, Mahindra’s self developed scooter, which was launched in 2014. With its new utility bike having the domestic 155c engine, Mahindra will step in the roaring 150-160cc segment of two-wheelers in India. It will compete with existing popular bikes like Bajaj’s Boxer, Pulsar 150 and Honda CB Unicorn 150. These bikes have already developed there market and will be the true rivals for any new comer in this segment.
