Mahindra XUV700 To Get Affordable Petrol Auto Variant

Mahindra-XUV700-28

Mahindra XUV700 MX AT launch soon, to compete with compact SUV segment

Mahindra is preparing to launch a new addition to its XUV700 lineup with the MX AT trim, targeting a wider market with the introduction of the petrol automatic combination in the entry-level MX variant.

According to a Type Approval Certificate issued by ARAI, the MX trim, previously available only in manual transmission for both petrol and diesel engine options, will now offer an automatic gearbox variant. The new trim is likely to hit the showrooms in the coming weeks to compete in the lower segment of compact SUVs.

The XUV700 MX AT variant is projected to be priced around Rs. 16 lakhs (ex-showroom), which reflects an increase of approximately Rs. 2 lakhs compared to its manual counterpart. This pricing strategy is in line with the current trend observed in the XUV700 lineup, where automatic transmission models are positioned slightly higher than their manual counterparts.

The base-spec Mahindra XUV700 MX AT might offer features like 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto compatibility, power windows, etc. However, it falls short of some features available in higher trims such as the digital driver display and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The introduction of the XUV700 MX AT variant is expected to intensify competition in the compact SUV segment. With its competitive pricing, Mahindra aims to capture the attention of consumers considering entry-level petrol-automatic versions of models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder and the likes.
