Mahindra XUV700 MX Variant To Get Automatic Transmission Option

Mahindra XUV700 MX variant to get new auto transmission option

Mahindra is expanding its flagship SUV lineup, the XUV700, in India by introducing an automatic gearbox option in the MX variant. This new offering will be available exclusively with the petrol engine.

The MX variant, which recently received a seven-seater version, has traditionally been offered as a five-seater with both petrol and diesel engines paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. With this update, the five-seater petrol version of the MX trim will now have an automatic transmission option.

Currently, the manual version of the XUV700 MX with a petrol engine is priced at Rs. 14 lakhs (ex-showroom). The upcoming automatic version is anticipated to be priced approximately Rs. 1.80 lakh higher than the manual variant.

The MX variant is powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine producing 195 BHP and 380 Nm of peak torque. This will be the most affordable variant in the XUV700 lineup to have an automatic transmission option.

This move is part of Mahindra’s strategy to enhance the appeal of the XUV700, which already includes several new variants such as the AX5L, MX 7-seater and the Blaze Edition. By offering an automatic gearbox in the MX variant, Mahindra aims to cater to a broader range of customers seeking convenience in their SUVs.

Recently Mahindra has started testing the new facelifted version of the XUV700, which is likely to be renamed as XUV 7XO, just like how the XUV300 was renamed to XUV 3XO with its facelift. The updated model will get drastic styling changes and new interior details along with a range of new features on offer to keep up with the competition. It will also come with an all-electric variant. The facelift is likely to hit the showrooms later this year or early next year.
