We reckon the exterior design of the Mahindra XUV700 speaks for itself
When the exterior design of the Mahindra XUV700 got leaked last week, we, like many, were not sure what to make of it.
Reserving our judgement for later, all we said is that people will get to like the car’s quirky design over time and not be bowled over in an instant.
The latest video (linked above) of the production-spec XUV700 painted in a shade of red should put all negative comments to rest once and for all.
While, we would not go as far as saying the SUV is a looker, it is not as bad as the early images suggested.
Mahindra has ensured that the 3-row vehicle has a proportionate design and the overall styling is modern as well. It had to be, if at all Mahindra wanted to poach buyers headed toward Tata showrooms to purchase the Harrier or Safari.
The SUV’s radiator grille, LED headlights, arrow-head tail lamps, can be seen clearly in the video, along with contrasting elements like silver-coloured skid plates and roof rails and chromed bits.
The SUV also gets blacked pillars barring the A-pillars and rides on alloy wheels. Also, if you look closely, Mahindra’s new logo can be seen as well and it looks rather pretty and much better than the current logo the firm uses.
On the inside, the SUV will come with a contemporary dashboard that has a wide digital display housing both the touchscreen and instrument cluster. The car will also get features like a panoramic sunroof, Alexa-based features, driver assistance systems and more.
Likely to be unveiled pretty soon, the XUV700 will come with turbocharged petrol (2.0-litre) and diesel (2.2-litre) engine options and manual and automatic gearbox choices.
