Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition launched with a dark-themed exterior and interior
Mahindra has introduced the XUV700 Ebony Edition in India, with prices starting at Rs. 19.64 lakhs and reaching up to Rs. 24.14 lakhs (ex-showroom). This latest iteration of the popular SUV takes a unique approach to the ‘dark edition’ theme by incorporating contrasting design elements rather than adopting an entirely blacked-out appearance. According to Mahindra, the development of the Ebony Edition was driven by customer feedback.
Pricing and Availability
The Ebony Edition is based on the top-tier AX7 and AX7 L variants of the XUV700 and carries a premium of Rs. 15,000/- over the equivalent standard models. The SUV retains the same powertrain options, offering both a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 200 HP and a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 185 HP. Both engine choices are available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. However, the Ebony Edition is offered exclusively in a front-wheel-drive configuration and only in a seven-seat layout.
Design and Exterior Updates
The XUV700 Ebony Edition debuts a new black paint finish, called Stealth Black, complemented by blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels, which retain the standard model’s design. It also features Ebony badges on the front fenders and the tailgate. To break the all-black theme, Mahindra has introduced silver-finished bash plates on the front and rear bumpers, creating a visual contrast. With this addition, the XUV700 lineup now includes eight monotone colour options and five dual-tone exterior finishes.
Interior and Features
Inside, the Ebony Edition continues with a dark-themed cabin featuring black leatherette upholstery with white stitching. The dashboard and door trims follow the dark colour scheme, while contrasting silver accents on the steering wheel, dashboard and gear console add visual interest. One of the most distinct elements is the light grey roof liner, which contrasts sharply with the otherwise dark interior.
Feature-wise, the Ebony Edition mirrors the equipment list of the AX7 and AX7 L variants. The AX7 variant includes Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 6-way powered driver’s seat with memory function, automatic headlights and wipers and dual-zone climate control. The AX7 L variant enhances the package with additional features such as a blind spot monitor, a 360-degree camera, a knee airbag (bringing the total to seven airbags), an electronic parking brake, a 12-speaker sound system, ventilated front seats and sequential rear LED turn indicators.
Safety Updates Across the XUV700 Range
Mahindra has introduced a new safety feature across the entire XUV700 lineup—a rear seat belt reminder. The company has also indicated that this will be the final update for the XUV700, though further details on any future changes remain undisclosed.
