Mahindra has just launched a limited edition version of the XUV500 and it is called the Sportz edition. Basically, the Sportz edition is a spruced up W8 variant of the XUV500. The limited edition comes with all the features that are standard on the W8 with the following additional items – Sportz decals on the doors, ORVMs, bonnet and roof, silver alloys with red inserts that are surrounded by chrome, rear-view camera (the only useful feature here) and another splash of red for the door handles and fog lamp surrounds. So even after Mahindra finally managed to make the XUV500 look like a vanilla cake with red toppings, they were not yet satisfied and hence decided to add a cherry to the cake i.e. red roof-rails.
Now let us talk about the features that are already standard on the Mahindra XUV500 W8. The W8 variant comes loaded with a 6” touch screen infotainment system with GPS, DVD, CD, MP3, FM, USB, iPod connectivity, Driver Information System, Micro Hybrid technology, fully automatic temperature control with dual HVAC, voice commands, cruise and audio controls on the steering wheel, static-bending projector headlamps with LED parking lights, smart rain and light sensors, Tyretronics (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System); intellipark (Reverse Parking Assist System) and power-foldable and adjustable ORVMs.
The Mahindra XUV500 is powered by a mHawk diesel engine produced 140 BHP of power and 330 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Safety features on the vehicle include six airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control and ESP with Rollover Mitigation. The Mahindra XUV500 Sportz limited edition is priced at Rs. 13.85 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and we really thank Mahindra for producing only 1000 units of this limited edition for the entire country. Last but not the least, we forgot to mention another feature of this limited edition – Sportz badging at the rear!
