The Mahindra XUV500 has created a huge wave in the Indian market. Infact so much was the demand that Mahindra had to close bookings of the SUV within a few days of launch. The second round of bookings got such a high response that the company had to resort to a lucky draw. The Indian utility major never anticipated such a huge demand for the XUV500 but has now hiked production to meet the demand. Initially Mahindra was producing 2000 units of the XUV ever ymonth, which has been doubled to 4000 units.
“It has been an incredible journey so far for the XUV500 and we are pleased to take the product national. We have been inundated with requests for re-opening of bookings not just from existing cities but also from cities where the XUV500 was not available. Now that we have ramped-up our production capacity significantly, we are confident that we will be able to take care of the growing all-India demand for the XUV500,” Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra, said.
Now Mahindra has opened bookings for the XUV500 for the third time. This time the XUV500 will be available pan-India, with the bookings opening on the 8th of June, 2012. Hopefully Mahindra will not be closing the bookings this time around and will make the XUV500 available off the shelf. Mahindra should also offer the W8 AWD variant, which was unavailable last time around. With the XUV500 available across India, expect Mahindra to get a stellar response for the vehicle in other cities as well.
