Mahindra has just launched an automatic version of it 1.99-litre XUV500 sold in the Delhi NCR region. The autobox has 6-speeds, and will be available for the W6, W8 and W10 variants sold in the Delhi NCR region.
After its move to the lower capacity 1.99-litre engine in Delhi due to the ban of 2.0-litre plus diesel engines, consumers were unable to get the automatic variant of the Mahindra XUV500, as that was only available with the higher 2.2-litre engine. Mahindra has thus, launched an automatic variant for its 1.99-litre XUV500 in the Delhi NCR region.
The automatic on offer is the same 6-speed gearbox that is offered with the 2.2-litre model sold throughout India. The AT will be offered for the two-wheel drive W6, W8 and W10 variants, while the four-wheel drive versions will have to make do with a 6-speed manual. Mahindra’s 1997cc turbo diesel engine, produces 140 HP of power at 3750 RPM and 320 Nm of torque between 1600-2800 RPM, which is commendable as there is a deficit of just 10 Nm of torque when compared to the larger 2.2-litre engine. The 1.99-litre model now comes mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The spec and feature list is identical to the car sold country wide, with the top of the line W10 variant getting projector headlamps with DRLs, illuminated scuff plates, anti-pinch sunroof, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, cruise control, brake energy regeneration system and rear wiper with defogger. On the safety front, the SUV comes equipped with ABS, ESP, EBD, hill descent and hold control and six airbags.
The Mahindra XUV500 currently competes with the likes of the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and Tata Safari Storme. The 1.99-litre variants are priced from Rs. 14.51 lakhs to Rs. 17.32 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the automatic variants.
