Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV debut will happen on 6th September, it will rival the Tata Nexon EV
The much-awaited Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV will make its debut on 6th September. It will be Mahindra’s first EV venture after not tasting success with the REVAi, e2o, and eVerito. The electric SUV will compete with Tata Tigor EV, Nexon Prime EV, and Nexon EV Max.
While launch will take place on 6th September, deliveries are likely to start only from October onwards.
Sources said the SUV will come powered by battery packs from LG Energy Solution, a subsidiary of LG Chem which, in-turn, is a subsidiary of LG Corporation, South Korea.
The SUV features a hunched back design at the rear for increased dimensions. It will not be restricted to the XUV300’s under-4-metre length but rather be longer at around 4.2 metres to accommodate the electric powertrain.
It’s expected to be high on space. The C pillar is quite broad for better room inside. The tail lights sport different design elements inside. The shape of the tail lights is quite edgy than the outgoing model.
The headlights get a slightly smoked finish for a sporty look. At the front, the trapezoidal bottom grille gets sharp edges while the car lacks a top grille owing to it being an EV.
As the car exceeds 4 metres in length, it will lose out on the sub-4 metre tax benefits and will command a premium that also includes the increased costs of the electric powertrain just like the Nexon’s electric variant. We expect a price tag of around Rs. 20 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The SUV is expected to be loaded to the brim with features. It might also get ADAS features from the XUV700. It will be quite powerful with terrific acceleration figures owing to the electric powertrain.
