The Mahindra XUV300 was wind tunnel tested at Pininfarina’s facility in Turin, Italy.
As we wait with bated breath for the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 to make its way into showrooms, Mahindra has dropped another video displaying the aerodynamics of the compact SUV.
The Mahindra XUV300 has undergone wind tunnel testing at Pininfarina’s facility in Turin, Italy. Now, the most interesting part is that Pininfarina (of which Mahindra is the parent company) is best-known for quite a few highly aerodynamic car designs. However, it is not very clear about the Italian car design firm’s role behind shaping up this car.
The upcoming Mahindra XUV300 takes inspirations from the SsangYong Tivoli. The silhouette of the car looks quite identical to the South Korean model. The shape of the sweptback headlamps look similar, and so do the fog lamps, albeit a little smaller. However, being based on a monocoque chassis, it has quite a lot of unique styling elements too.
Mechanically, the Mahindra XUV300 will be powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine from the recently launched Marazzo MPV. This motor churns out 123 BHP of power and 300 Nm of torque. Besides this, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol powerplant will also be added to the lineup. The transmission options might include a 6-speed manual and an AMT.
Once launched, that is on the 15th of February, the Mahindra XUV300 will be one of the most potent vehicles in its class (as it will boast of many segment first features including 7 airbags and a sunroof) and will go up against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. It is expected to get a starting price tag of around Rs. 8 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
