Mahindra XUV.e8 spotted testing, sheds camouflage to reveal new details
A prototype of the highly anticipated Mahindra XUV.e8 electric SUV was spotted testing on the Chennai-Bangalore highway, offering a sneak peek of the upcoming EV. The latest spy images have unveiled some intriguing details of this electric SUV.
While the overall silhouette of the XUV.e8 bears a resemblance to its ICE counterpart, the XUV700, it distinguishes itself with a unique front-end design. The most notable feature is a continuous LED light bar seamlessly integrated into the front fascia, accompanied by vertically stacked headlamp pods. The rear end, however, maintains the familiar aesthetics of the XUV700.
The futuristic interior details that were showcased with the concept version are visible in this prototype. The dashboard is expected to get three large screens. The newly designed two-spoke steering wheel is visible in these spy shots, looks similar to the one in the new Tata Safari. It also comes with paddle shifters, which might be offered in this EV to switch between regen modes.
The centre console is equipped with a conventional automatic gear selector and a circular dial. While this is a prototype, we can expect some changes in the final production version.
The XUV.e8 is expected to be built on Mahindra’s new INGLO platform, a dedicated platform for electric vehicles. The electric SUV is likely to get come with an 80 kWh battery pack that will offer a driving range of around 500 km on full charge. The electric drivetrain options will include a single or dual-motor setup, offering a potential power output ranging from 227 BHP to 345 BHP.
Mahindra is expected to launch the XUV.e8 by 2025. It will compete head-on with the upcoming electric Tata Safari, which is currently under development.
