Mahindra XUV 3XO EV currently under testing to compete with Tata Nexon EV
Mahindra is gearing up to replace its XUV400 EV with the upcoming XUV 3XO EV, a model that has been spied at a charging station, indicating its development is in the final stages.
An all-electric variant of Mahindra’s XUV 3XO has been spotted testing in India. The electric SUV was seen at a charging station, sporting minimal camouflage, hinting that its design will closely resemble its internal combustion counterpart.
Minimal Design Changes
The spy images suggest that the XUV 3XO EV’s design will largely mirror its petrol-powered sibling. Notable changes include a revised grille, unique badging on the tailgate and a relocated charging port now positioned on the front fender rather than the rear quarter panel, as seen on the XUV400. Furthermore, unlike the XUV400, the XUV 3XO EV is expected to be under 4 meters in length, aligning with its combustion-engine variant.
Shared Technology and Features
The XUV 3XO EV is anticipated to carry forward many of the features from its internal combustion sibling. Expected highlights include:
- Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
- A panoramic sunroof.
- A 360-degree camera system.
- A premium Harman Kardon sound system.
These features aim to position the XUV 3XO EV as a premium offering in the compact electric SUV segment.
Powertrain Speculations
While details about the powertrain remain scarce, it is unclear if Mahindra will retain the existing powertrain options from the XUV400 or introduce new setups for the XUV 3XO EV. More information is expected as the launch date approaches.
Competitive Positioning
The XUV 3XO EV is set to rival the Tata Nexon EV, which has been a dominant player in the Indian electric SUV market. By offering advanced technology, premium features and a competitive design, Mahindra aims to carve a stronger foothold in the rapidly growing EV segment.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV marks another step in the company’s push towards electrification and its launch is eagerly awaited. With its expected blend of tech, design and performance, the 3XO EV could emerge as a strong contender in India’s compact electric SUV space.
