Mahindra XEV 9e introductory price revealed, deliveries to start by March 2025
Mahindra XEV 9e electric SUV coupe launched with introductory prices starting from Rs. 21.90 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the entry-level Pack One variant. The newly launched model is built on the brand’s INGLO born-EV platform and comes with two battery options. A detailed price list is expected to be announced in January 2025, just before the model reaches showrooms. Notably, the price does not include the cost of the charger.
The XEV 9e is the larger and more premium of two new electric SUVs launched by Mahindra, with the BE 6e being the other, priced from Rs .18.90 lakhs (ex-showroom & introductory). Deliveries of both models are expected to begin by March 2025.
Design and Dimensions
The Mahindra XEV 9e measures 4790 mm in length, 1905 mm in width and 1690 mm in height, making it longer and more spacious than Mahindra’s XUV700. The wheelbase of the XEV 9e is 2775 mm, while Mahindra claims a ground clearance of 207 mm and a turning diameter of 10 meters.
In terms of styling, the XEV 9e features a blanked-out grille area with an LED light bar running across the width of the car, linking the headlight clusters. The use of piano black elements on the exterior enhances the premium look. Other design elements include flush door handles, a pronounced shoulder line and aero-optimised 19-inch alloy wheels (20-inch alloys are optional). The rear features slim, connected LED tail-lights, positioned below the boot spoiler, as well as Mahindra’s illuminated “infinity” logo.
Interior and Features
Inside, the Mahindra XEV 9e offers a three-screen setup, each measuring 12.3 inches with a resolution of 1920×720. The screens run Mahindra’s Adrenox software. A flat-bottom steering wheel with an illuminated logo, along with switchgear shared with the XUV700, provides a familiar yet premium feel. The vehicle is also equipped with an electronic parking brake, drive modes, and brake-by-wire technology. It offers a 665-litre boot and a 150-litre front storage compartment (frunk).
The top-spec variant of the XEV 9e includes premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, a heads-up display (HUD) and advanced safety features including 7 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and blind spot monitoring. It also has park assist technology, which allows the car to park autonomously.
The entry-level Pack One variant offers a simplified set of features, including 6 airbags, a reverse camera, an electronic parking brake and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It also includes a three-screen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, 4 speakers with 2 tweeters, push-button start, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and various seat adjustments.
Battery and Charging
The Mahindra XEV 9e is available with two LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery options: 59kWh and 79kWh, both built on the INGLO platform. Mahindra is offering a lifetime warranty on the battery packs. The company claims that the batteries can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 175kW DC fast charger.
The 79kWh battery offers an MIDC range of 656 km, while the same battery provides a 533 km range based on the European WLTP cycle. Mahindra also stated that during real-world testing, the XEV 9e delivered a range of over 500 km on a full charge.
Performance
The XEV 9e features Mahindra’s compact three-in-one powertrain comprising the motor, inverter, and transmission. The 79kWh version comes with a 286 HP motor delivering 380 Nm of torque to the rear wheels, achieving a 0-100 km/hr time of 6.7 seconds. The smaller 59kWh unit is powered by a 231 HP motor.
Mahindra claims the XEV 9e is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, as well as a brake-by-wire system, allowing the SUV to brake from 100 km/hr to a complete stop in 40 meters.
