The upcoming Mahindra U321 MPV has been spotted testing and this time around we could spot rear disc brakes too.

The DRLs have been installed near the fog lamp housing

The upcoming Mahindra MPV has been spotted testing yet again. MotorBeam reader Ben Raja spotted the car and clicked the pictures for us. The spotted MPV, in spite of being heavily camouflaged, did reveal some details. This seems to the production-ready car. The vehicle revealed its alloy wheels, tail-lights, a pair of LED DRLs housed near the fog lamps and rear disc brakes.

Time and again, this MPV has been spotted testing and yet there are very few details available. First things first, this new car from Mahindra will primarily rival the Toyota Innova Crysta and others like Maruti Ertiga, Renault Lodgy and Tata Hexa. Codenamed as U321, this vehicle gets the traditional MPV stance and design elements like the large windows and doors. The overall dimensions of the MPV seem to be similar to that of the Toyota Innova.

This new MPV could replace the Xylo and could be powered by a new 1.6-litre diesel engine and even the 1.5-litre oil-burner that currently powers the TUV300. Mahindra could also plonk the 2.2-litre diesel engine that does duty in the Scorpio. A 1.5-litre petrol engine is in the offing too. The car is built on a monocoque platform and will be front-wheel drive.

The upcoming MPV will be a 7-seater offered with all the bells and whistles like a touchscreen infotainment system and rear AC vents etc. The U321 is designed by Mahindra’s team at the MNATC (Mahindra North American Technology Center), while the testing and development is happening at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai.
