Mahindra is currently planning on launching an MPV that rivals the Toyota Innova Crysta.
The upcoming MPV from Mahindra has been codenamed to U321 and the company set an investment of Rs. 1500 crore for the Nashik and Igatpuri plants to cater to the vehicle. The Nashik plant will be used to manufacture the vehicle whereas the Igatpuri plant will be used for building the engines for the MPV. These projects will qualify as the Ultra Mega Project.
Mahindra is planning on putting up the U321 directly against the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta. The Innova Crysta has been doing well ever since its launch in the Indian market. The U321 has been spotted testing near Mahindra’s vehicle development centre, on the outskirts of Chennai.
The U321 carries the looks of a traditional MPV. The vehicle has a long wheelbase and a tall stance. The grille looks similar to other Mahindra vehicles. The headlamps are similar to the Imperio pick-up truck but expect the production version to get a better design. The Mahindra U321 is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2017.
