Mahindra 2-Wheelers will be launching its first mass market scooter, the Gusto 110 on 29th September for the Northern and Western Indian markets, with a phased launch in other markets including Latin America and Africa in the next few months.
Mahindra 2-Wheelers has announced the launch date of its next mass market offering, the Gusto scooter that will be launched on 29th September across the Northern and Western parts of India and Nepal, followed by a phased launch in other markets including Southern and Eastern markets of India as well as South Asia, Central America and Africa in the next few months. Codenamed ‘G101’, the Gusto gets its name from the term Gust symbolising freedom and will be the first global scooter from the Indian auto manufacturer.
The Mahindra Gusto is a 110cc scooter that has been created at the company’s R&D facility in Pune and is the first product to have been developed independently by the company after acquiring Kinetic. The mass market offering gets an all Aluminium M-TEC engine with advanced features such as a stronger crankshaft and bearings, high inertia magneto, high energy HT coil and series regulator that has been tuned to deliver strong power output, reliability and efficiency.
The 109.6cc engine will output 8 BHP of power and 8.5 Nm of torque. The Gusto will ride on 12-inch wheels and the front suspension uses telescopic forks, it gets tubeless tyres.
The Gusto will be competing against the Honda Activa, Suzuki Let’s, TVS Jupiter and the likes in the segment. Mahindra is bullish to capture a share in the heavily contested segment with its newest offering. The company further adds that the Gusto has been styled in Italy that should differentiate better from the existing offerings in the segment.
