Mahindra Thar Roxx deliveries commence, waiting period stretches to mid-2026

Mahindra’s five-door Thar Roxx, launched in August 2024, has captured the attention of SUV enthusiasts across India with its off-road capabilities and expanded practicality. However, growing demand for the vehicle has extended its waiting period, with deliveries for recent bookings expected to commence only in 2026.

With six variants and seven colour options, the Thar Roxx starts at Rs. 12.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), offering an accessible entry point for buyers. The attractive pricing appears to be influencing demand, as recent bookings are expected to carry a delivery timeline of up to 18 months, a long wait but one consistent with the popularity of the Thar nameplate in India.

Since its introduction, the five-door Thar Roxx has drawn considerable attention in the market. With Mahindra’s established reputation for producing rugged and reliable SUVs, the new variant has not only attracted prospective new buyers but has also reportedly impacted sales of the three-door Thar. Demand for Mahindra’s off-roader has historically led to extended waiting periods for delivery and the Thar Roxx seems to be no exception to this trend.

Mahindra has yet to release the October 2024 sales figures for the Thar Roxx but the anticipated data could offer insight into how the new model has influenced the three-door version’s market share. Despite the extended wait, the Thar Roxx remains a desirable option in the off-roader segment, with Mahindra aiming to meet this demand while navigating production constraints and managing customer expectations.

In the meantime, buyers may find themselves facing a dilemma – either opt for the three-door Thar for quicker availability or embrace the extended wait for the larger Thar Roxx. Mahindra’s ambitious pricing strategy, coupled with the vehicle’s extended usability as a five-door SUV, appears to have struck a chord with Indian buyers eager to get behind the wheel of the latest addition to the Thar lineup, albeit with patience as the key requirement.
