Mahindra has launched the Thar Adventure Edition. Only 30 units will be produced and the company has not revealed the prices of the vehicle yet.
The Mahindra Thar is a vehicle that is aimed at pure off-road enthusiasts and to those who want a vehicle that is slightly different than all other common cars running on our roads. The Thar was launched with the intent that off-road fans won’t need to build their own 4x4s now and can acquire a vehicle that also offers peace of mind in regards to warranty and after-sales support. The Thar sells in not-so-good and not-so-bad numbers each month. Every company introduces limited editions of their vehicles to up buyers’ interest and now Mahindra has launched the Thar Adventure Edition.
The Mahindra Thar Adventure Edition is available in a new Java Brown colour along with body graphics. The vehicle also gets headlight and tail lamp protectors with a chaff screen. The wheel arches have been extended and they manage to make the vehicle look more rugged now. The interiors get new black seat covers with orange piping. The centre console has been given a slight tweak and Mahindra is also providing new moulded floor mats.
The Mahindra Thar is powered by a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder CRDe engine that produces 103 HP of power and 247 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and in 2WD mode power is sent to the rear wheels. There is also a Borg Warner low reduction gear 4WD transfer case. The Thar has a ground clearance of 200 mm. Mahindra has stated that only 30 units of the Thar Adventure Edition will be produced and it will be sold through select dealerships. The Thar costs Rs. 7.16 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) so we think that the Adventure Edition will be pricier by Rs. 30,000/-
