Mahindra Thar 5-Door Prototype Front Seats

Mahindra Thar 5-Door to get more premium features

Recent spy shots of the Mahindra Thar 5-Door prototype reveal interesting details, specially the new premium features that will be offered over the regular Thar 3-Door. The long wheelbase Thar is likely to be launched by the festive season of this year.

The exterior comes with new LED headlight setup with revised DRLs. It will also get a new grille design to differentiate the two. Mahindra will be offering front and rear parking sensors along with 360 degree camera, which is a big leap forward considering the fact that the 3-door lacks even a single rear camera. Other changes on the exterior include new LED tail lights and 19-inch alloy wheels. The prototype was wearing 255/60/R19 Goodyear Wrangler HT tyres.

On the inside, the new Thar 5-door will get a new black and brown colour scheme for the dashboard. It will also get the Scorpio N inspired premium steering wheel design with cruise control and infotainment control buttons. There is a larger touchscreen infotainment system with floating design and an all-digital instrument cluster.

Other things to notice include electronic fuel lid opener, electric sunroof, hard metal top, auto dimming IRVM, 6 airbags, push button start stop feature and rear AC vents. You can see the rear seat space here in these pictures, which looks very limited in terms of legroom. There is a headrest for the middle passenger along with an arm rest. The boot space looks adequate in these spy shots.

Mahindra will be offering the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options with the long wheelbase Thar. It will be available in both manual and automatic transmission options. Customers will get a choice of 4×2 and 4×4 variants.
