Mahindra Thar LWB to have a separate production line
Mahindra officials have confirmed the launch of the highly anticipated Thar LWB 5-door variant, slated to hit the market by mid-2024. This revelation came during the company’s recent earnings call, where Rajesh Jejurikar, the executive director and CEO, provided insights into the forthcoming model.
Mahindra has opted to establish a dedicated production line for the Thar 5-door, distinct from its 3-door counterpart. This decision aims to streamline manufacturing processes and meet the high demand expected for this model. Jejurikar reiterated this approach, underscoring the company’s commitment to ensuring an efficient production workflow.
The Thar 5-door is expected to come with some styling cues inspired by the Thar EV concept to differentiate it with the smaller 3-door version. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options which includes the 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel that is being offered with other Mahindra SUVs like Scorpio N, XUV700 and 3-door Thar. Both the engine options will come with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. Mahindra will also offer 4×2 and 4×4 variants with the Thar LWB.
There will be some premium features on offer including 360-degree camera, electric sunroof, larger infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, front arm rest, dual tone dashboard, rear seat armrest and more.
