Mahindra registers 7 trademarks for upcoming Thar 5-door SUV
Mahindra Thar 5-door is all set to launch by mid-2024 in India. The long wheelbase version will get some differentiation compared to the 3-door Thar including the name. The Indian automaker has just registered 7 trademarks for the bigger Thar.
The trademarked names include Thar Armada, Cult, Rex, Savannah, Roxx, Gladius and Centurion. Which one of these names do you like the most? Let us know in the comments section.
Other differentiations will include some exterior changes like the new grille design that has been spotted on the test mules recently. It will also get new LED headlights, new alloy wheels, new LED tail lights, revised bumper design and new colours most likely.
The interior too will get relatively more features compared to the 3-door Thar. It will get a sunroof, larger touchscreen infotainment system, front arm rest, rear parking camera, pillar-mounted grab handles, etc. It is yet to be known if the long wheelbase Thar will get ADAS tech or not.
Mahindra will be offering the same engine options. It will be available with both 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine and 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine with the option of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The bigger Thar will be offered in 4×2 and 4×4 variants. It is yet to be known if the smaller 1.5-litre diesel will be offered with the RWD variants or not.
