Mahindra has silently increased the prices of the XUV500 by Rs. 8000-20,000/- depending on the variant, just a month after the vehicle’s launch.
Mahindra launched the XUV500 facelift in India just a month back and the company has already hiked the prices of the SUV. The XUV500 competes with the Renault Duster, Skoda Yeti and Nissan Terrano and overall it is a very value-for-money package. The company has hiked the prices very silently and the new prices have now started to show on their official website. The hike in prices ranges from Rs. 8000/- for the base W4 variant to Rs. 20,000/- for the top W10 variant.
The 2015 Mahindra XUV500 comes with a whole lot of changes over the outgoing model. The vehicle gets tweaked exteriors, improved interiors with more equipment and reworked mechanicals like the clutch. The SUV is powered by a 2179cc, mHawk 140, direct injection with VGT engine that produces 140 BHP of power at 3750 RPM and 330 Nm of torque between 1600-2800 RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and the vehicle goes from 0-100 km/hr in 13.57 seconds (as per our VBOX tests). It comes loaded with features like six airbags, ABS, ESP, TCS, Hill Hold Function and Rollover Mitigation.
It is a common practice amongst most car and bike companies to launch their vehicles at an introductory price which seems quite attractive and them immediately increase the prices a few months after the launch but Mahindra has gone ahead by hiking the price in a matter of a few weeks itself. While there is nothing wrong with this practice, the only issue is that buyers may feel a little bit let down if the price hikes are very significant. As we can see, the maximum hike is Rs. 20,000/- for the W10 variant which is like 1% of the overall cost of the SUV.
