Mahindra seems to be working on a special edition of its popular SUV, the Scorpio. The vehicle was spotted testing recently and it sported a few visual changes.
Mahindra is one of the most popular SUV makers in India and its SUVs capture a large chunk of the market. The Scorpio is a vehicle which has been very popular ever since its launch and the company came up with the new Scorpio not so long ago to increase sales further. Now, to spice things up a bit, they seem to be working on a special edition of the popular SUV.
Spotted testing recently by our reader Rohan, the Scorpio special edition seems to be getting a few visual changes to improve its looks. The visible changes are the dual tone paint job, black coloured alloys in a different design, red brake callipers at the front and silver roof rails. These changes might be accompanied with some changes inside, details of which are unknown at the moment.
Mahindra has been doing all that it takes to keep the sales of the Scorpio ticking. In July last year, they added a 6-speed automatic transmission to the SUV to appeal to a larger audience. Due to the ban in Delhi NCR over sale of vehicles with engines above 2000cc, the Indian manufacturer has to rework the engine and launch a 1.99-litre engine specific to the region.
For someone on the lookout for a tough SUV which can double up as a workhorse, the Mahindra Scorpio becomes the default choice. The rugged vehicle is built to endure through use and abuse without breaking into a sweat. We expect the special edition of the SUV to launch in the coming months and it will carry a slight premium over the current prices.
