Mahindra launched the SsangYong Rexton W in the Indian market today, which becomes the flagship Mahindra vehicle. The Indian utility vehicle major’s next launch is the Reva NXR electric vehicle, which is expected to be priced around Rs. 5 lakhs. Autocar India Editor, Hormazd Sorabjee has revealed the name of the vehicle, which will be called E2O (E two O). The naming continues with the Mahindra style of having its product name end with an ‘O’. The only exception is the Thar.
These set of pictures were shot by MotorBeam reader Hari Krishnan in Bangalore. Mahindra recently inaugurated a state of the art manufacturing facility in Bangalore, which will churn out the Reva E20. The E2O is the first car to be manufactured at this plant. The electric vehicle is the next generation of the Reva and is a huge leap over the REVAi. Mahindra expects to sell a good amount of the E20 in the Indian market as the focus towards efficiency and environment friendliness is increasing.
The Mahindra Reva E2O comes with Quick2Charge technology, which enables 15-minute quick charge for a range of 25 kms. The Reva E2O will come equipped with a 29 kw (39.5 BHP) electric motor and 48-volt Lithium-ion battery. Mahindra will not offer lead acid batteries on the car initially though it might contemplate offering it in the future. Mahindra will lease the batteries to reduce cost of the vehicle, rather than selling them outright. The Reva E2O will have a range of 100 kms on full charge with a top speed of around 100 km/hr.
