Mahindra recently launched its Quanto in Italy. The Indian car maker has Italy as one of its export markets. The Quanto which was launched in Italy has a different powertrain as compared to the model sold in India.
Mahindra’s Quanto which was launched in Italy is priced at EUR 14,274 (Rs. 10.04 lakhs). The Quanto has a much more powerful drivetrain as compared to its Indian counterpart. The Italian-spec Quanto comes powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk engine which produces 120 BHP. The car will also have 4WD as an optional feature. In India, the current model is powered by a smaller 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine with no option of a 4WD feature.
For the interiors, the Italian-spec car comes with features such as rear seat folding tray, cruise control, USB and SD Card, trip computer, steering-mounted buttons, remote central locking system, ABS, either single or dual side airbags, electronic assistance for hill start and hill assist, immobiliser, alloy wheels, running boards sill and cabin lamps.
For the exterior, the Italian Mahindra Quanto is likely to come with the same exterior and interior design with the dual tone interiors, body coloured ORVMs on the higher variants, conventional headlamps, roof mounted antenna and rear de-fogger and wiper. All this meaning that while the design and look of the car may be similar to the one currently in the Indian market, its powertrain will be the only major change along with a few additional features.
A facelifted Quanto will be available in the Indian market in 2016. The new model is expected to be completely re-designed both on the exterior and interiors, apart from having better equipment and an upgraded powertrain (along with the option of an AMT), the new model will also likely feature a new name.
