Indian automaker Mahindra will be launching updated versions of the Quanto compact SUV and the Genio pick-up truck, both of which will be getting massive changes including mechanical tweaks.
Mahindra really wants to capture a bigger chunk of share in the Indian auto market. With the launch of the updated XUV500 and the new TUV300, the automaker has already generated a lot of interest in its products. The company will soon be launching another entry-level vehicle which is known by the codename S101. Apart from all this, the Indian carmaker will also be launching the Quanto and Genio facelift at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The Quanto has always been known as a rather quirky looking vehicle which looks like a chopped off Xylo. The new model, as we see in the pictures, looks good for a change and the front fascia has got a lot of tweaks. The updated headlights, bumper and grille make the compact SUV a good looking car. The side profile remains largely the same but the rear is also expected to get some changes to the bumper and the tail lights.
On the interior front, again Mahindra has given some updates to the dashboard and the vehicle will also get a new audio system with Bluetooth connectivity and voice commands. The seats will be all-new and they will be more comfortable than the previous ones. Similar updates will be carried out on the Genio pick-up truck too, which is based on the Quanto itself.
Talking about mechanicals, the Quanto and the Genio will get the same 1.5-litre mHawk80 diesel engine that currently powers the TUV300. The engine produces 84 HP of power and 230 Nm of torque and it comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Quanto is also expected to get the same AMT gearbox from the TUV300. The vehicle’s suspension has also been tweaked and it now comes with additional bushes and a rear stability bar which has been borrowed from the Xylo.
