Mahindra is planning a product onslaught in India with nine launches planned for this fiscal year. This would help the brand gain more volumes and move up the ladder.
Mahindra has been one of the most preferred brand of Indians when it comes to UVs and SUVs due to the value for money pricing and rugged build quality which can withstand abuse. With the advancement of the market, the carmaker has also advanced and showcased its technological wizardry with the XUV5OO which came loaded with gizmos. But, the other products in the portfolio are a bit older and lack finesse. To overcome this issue, the Indian SUV maker has planned three new products launches, three minor facelifts and three major facelifts which takes the number of launches in this fiscal year to nine.
The new vehicles which shall be launched would include two sub-4 metre compact SUVs codenamed the S101 and U301 for the price conscious buyers. The third vehicle shall be from the Korean subsidiary of Mahindra called the SsangYong Tivoli which will be a compact SUV competing with the likes of the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano. While the first two will most certainly get the 1.5-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine from the Quanto, news is that the Korean SUV might receive the same engine in order to price it competitively while not compromising much on performance. It comes with a long feature list which should give it an edge above the competition.
Most of the existing vehicles in the Mahindra stable have been there for too long and are demanding a facelift. Some of the vehicles shall be getting major facelifts while some would be getting only a minor one. Popular SUV XUV5OO has already received a major facelift which has bought in plenty of changes along with a new top-end W10 model of the vehicle. The Bolero and the Quanto will also be receiving major updates in order to freshen up the ageing UVs. The niche product in the portfolio, Thar, will soon be getting a minor facelift while the low-sellers, the Xylo and Verito would also get minor updates. With such a big change to the lineup, sales numbers of the Indian brand will surely increase.
