Mahindra has finally started production of the Mojo and it will be launched in August 2015. The launch is happening 5 years after the motorcycle was first showcased in 2010!
We first heard about the Mahindra Mojo many years back and news about this flagship bike from the Indian automaker kept hovering on the web. Mahindra seems to have spent a lot of years in developing the bike looking at the way they kept delaying its launch. So the latest news states that the company has finally started the production of the Mojo and it is slated to be launched in August itself. The bike is being produced at the company’s facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. While production is on a limited basis right now, it will be pushed to full capacity in a couple of weeks’ time.
The Mahindra Mojo is powered by a 296cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces approximately 30 BHP of power and the engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The Mojo features good styling and it looks quite different from other two-wheelers available in the market today. The dual headlights get a chrome lining at the top while the swingarm and discs have been painted in gold, to lend a nice contrasting appeal to the bike. The seat is a single piece unit and gets a contour for the rider.
The Mahindra Mojo will be competing with bikes like the Pulsar RS 200, KTM Duke 200, Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR250R. On a general note, Mahindra two-wheelers aren’t doing very well in the market and their showrooms too do not get much foot falls. The manufacturer will be doing some serious brand building with the launch of the Mojo and will try to get a hold on the premium two-wheeler segment in India. The Mojo has created enough buzz but we’re glad to see the company finally manufacturing it and gearing up for its launch.
