Mahindra Marazzo-based Ford MPV To Get 2.2-Litre Diesel Engine
It will also be redesigned both on the inside and outside and will get more equipment as well.
The upcoming Mahindra Marazzo-based Ford MPV will not be powered by the 1.5-litre diesel motor from the Indian firm, but would rather use its 2.2-litre unit.
That mHawk 2.2-litre diesel engine made its debut in the 2021 Thar. The same powerplant will also find its way under the hood of the upcoming XUV500 and the Scorpio Sting.
Being jointly developed by Ford and Mahindra for the Indian market, the upcoming Ford MPV will share the Marazzo’s underpinnings and will be built at the Mahindra’s Nashik facility.
However, the MPV will get Ford’s own styling and a restyled interior, which will look similar to Ford’s other vehicles sold globally. Even the switchgear and the infotainment system will be from the American brand’s kitty.
Like the Marazzo, the Ford MPV will also come in multiple seating configurations, but it will have a bit more features than its Indian twin.
Ford might have decided to plonk the bigger motor in its upcoming MPV to justify positioning it above the Marazzo, which it intends to do.
This will also help the carmaker to attempt and lure in some of Toyota Innova Crysta’s potential customers, when the car in question gets launched in the market.
