Mahindra has launched the Thar in India, priced at Rs. 6.28 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai_ for the CRDe BS IV 4×4 variant and Rs. 4.47 lakhs (ex-showroom, Jaipur) for the Direct Injection Diesel 4×2 variant. The Thar CRDe will be manufactured in Nashik, wheresa the DI will be made at the company’s Kandivali plant in Mumbai. Mahindra has also setup a separate customization shop for the Thar and offers accessories like twin exhausts, winch, bar mounted aux lamps, etc. The Thar does not have AC as standard but the vehicle is AC ready. Powered by a 2.5L CRDe motor which produces 105 bhp at 3800Rpm and 247Nm of torque at 1800-2000Rpm, the Thar will hit a claimed top speed of 150kmph. The Thar is available in Black, Red, Beige and Silver colours.
