Mahindra has launched the Centuro motorcycle in India, which is a premium 100cc offering from the company. The Mahindra Centuro comes with many features unseen in this segment like a flip key, digital console with service reminder, distance to empty, economy mode indicator and clock display, guide headlamp, find me lamps, anti-theft system, etc. Mahindra has priced the Centuro at an introductory Rs. 45,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The first 10,000 bookings will get the Centuro at Rs. 44,000/-. Only one variant is offered, which doesn’t have a front disc brake.

The Mahindra Centuro uses a 106cc single-cylinder MCi-5 engine which develops 8.5 BHP of power and 8.5 Nm of torque, coupled to a 4-speed gearbox. Mahindra claims a mileage of 85.4 km/l (ARAI) which is undoubtedly the highest in the segment. However one can realistically expect the Centuro to deliver a mileage of around 68 km/l. The Mahindra Centuro draws some styling inspiration from the Mojo 300cc motorcycle, which has been shown multiple times by the company at various events.

Mahindra is betting big on the Centuro and is following the same path it as its 4-wheeler division, which is to provide customers loads of features at a value for money price. The Mahindra Centuro was showcased earlier this year at the Pantero media ride event in Pune. The company is investing heavily to boost product development and has set up an R&D centre at its Pune plant. The Mahindra Centuro competes with the Bajaj Discover 100T in the premium commuter segment.
