Earlier this month, we brought you the exclusive news about Mahindra’s plans of launching a base variant of the Centuro. The company has now launched the Centuro N1 which is priced at Rs. 45,700/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Mahindra Centuro N1 is devoid of certain features and thus costs Rs. 2000/- less than the regular Centuro. Mahindra has sold 1 lakh units of the Centuro till date, which is a commendable achievement considering the bike was launched only 6 months ago. The company has 390 dealerships and 1000 touch points across the country.
The Mahindra Centuro N1 features the same styling and engine and many of the features found in the standard Centuro (which is now named Centuro O1 where O stands for original) have been retained. Thus the Centuro N1 comes with a flip key, anti-theft alarm system, front/rear LEDs, guide lamps and find me home lamps. What has gone is the digital speedometer and engine belly pan. The new cluster uses yellow back lit and is completely analogue. The motorcycle is offered with a 5-year warranty just like other models.
The Mahindra Centuro is powered by a 106.7cc, single-cylinder engine which outputs 8.5 PS of power and 8.5 Nm of torque. This engine gives the Centuro a top speed of 85 km/hr while ARAI claimed mileage is 85.4 km/l. The bike uses a 4-speed gearbox.
Sales of the Mahindra Centuro have been strong in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The company is currently exporting the Pantero to 9 counties which will be increased to 14 by the end of this financial year. Mahindra will launch 10 new models in the next 2 years which consists of scooters as well as motorcycles. A 110cc scooter is being prepared for launch in the next few months. Currently Mahindra has only 125cc scooters in its portfolio. The company is manufacturing 1500 units of the Centuro every day at its Pithampur facility which will be hiked to 2000 units soon.
