Mahindra has launched the ‘Bolero Maxi Truck Plus’ (BMT Plus) at a price of Rs. 4.33 lakhs (ex-showroom, Thane) for the BS3 variant and Rs. 4.34 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai, excluding Octroi) for the BS4 variant. The vehicle has been developed on the rugged Bolero platform employing the same 2523cc common rail diesel engine, producing 63 BHP of power and 195 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox delivering an ARAI certified mileage of 17.7 km/l (for the BS3 variant).
The Mahindra Bolero Maxi Truck Plus has been developed for transportation in urban areas. With a turning radius of 5.5 meters, Mahindra believes that this vehicle will be easily manoeuvrable through heavy traffic. The manufacturer has increased the payload capacity to 1150 kgs and uses a larger 40.6 sq.ft. cargo box. A 1 year unlimited kms warranty has also been provided to lure customers. The vehicle is offered with an option of power steering.
The Bolero Maxi Truck gets 15-inch wheels and uses leaf spring suspension. It has a digital immobilizer and has long maintenance intervals. The interiors get the dual tone treatment, which are more appealing than the traditional single tone colour layout found on most vehicles in this segment. The LCV market has seen a steep rise in sales and Mahindra has been leading this category (2-3.5 ton LCV segment) with a market share of 54 percent. With this launch they expect to remain the undisputed leader in the category.
