After its unveil at the 2016 Auto Expo, Mahindra has finally launched the KUV100 Xplorer Edition. The Xplorer kit will be Rs. 50,000/- dearer to the consumer opting for it, over the basic SUV. There are no mechanical changes included in addition.
Soon after its launch in January this year, Mahindra showcased the KUV100 Xplorer Edition at the 2016 Auto Expo. The company recently has officially launched an Xplorer Edition kit for its mini SUV via a tweet. The new kit, will be offered as an add-on for the KUV100 and will cost around Rs. 50,000/- over the basic car. The kit is only a visual option and comes with no mechanical changes whatsoever.
The Mahindra KUV100 Xplorer Edition kit, as the name suggests, adds a lot of macho looks to the vehicle. The KUV100 now at least justifies its SUV tag to some extent. The kit comes with new stylised roof rails, a heavily revised front bumper, new bonnet with silver accented fake vents, faux cladding along the wheel arches and side skirts, a tail light protector and LED brake lights. The interiors of the car remain untouched, and so do the mechanical components. Increased ground clearance would have been a welcome addition, as it would complement the bold off-road looks of the car.
As far as the engine options go, the Mahindra KUV100 is offered in the same petrol and diesel guise. The 1.2-litre petrol outputs 82 HP of power and 112 Nm of torque, and the 1.3-litre diesel churns out 77 HP of power and 190 Nm of torque. The engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox which sends power to the front wheels. The Mahindra KUV100 is priced from Rs. 4.22 lakhs and Rs. 5.22 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol and diesel models respectively.
