A test mule of the Mahindra KUV100 EV has been spotted testing, launch in 2018.
The Mahindra KUV100 electric has been spied testing on public roads for the first time. The EV is a part of Mahindra’s electric vehicle strategy for the Indian market and is expected to be launched in 2018. Details on the specifications of the EV are still sketchy.
The test mule lacks an exhaust pipe and no engine noise could be heard which gives away the fact that this is the electric version of the KUV100. The test mule has a Fiery Orange and Midnight Black paint scheme and an unpainted rear door. The left rear window is camouflaged and has a black pipe that runs to the bottom of the car.
With an investment of around Rs. 4000 crores in EVs over the next 3-5 years, the Indian automaker aims to introduce two new EVs to its electric car lineup by 2019, the first being the KUV100 electric. Speculations state that the other EV could be the XUV Aero, but there is also a possibility of the Scorpio getting an electric version. The XUV Aero was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and production of the SUV is set to commence in 2018.
