Mahindra is developing an electric scooter that will share its components with the Gusto.
Mahindra top boss’ recent tweet reveals that the company is working on an electric scooter that is based on the Gusto. The upcoming electric scooter will share its underpinnings with the afore-mentioned scooter.
Mahindra 2-Wheelers is planning to discontinue the Gusto and Centuro, as it shifts its focus from the commuter segment to the premium bikes segment. The Mahindra Gusto comes in 2 variants – 110cc and 125cc. The Gusto 110 makes 8 HP of power and 9 Nm of torque, while the Gusto 125 makes 8.5 HP of power and 10 Nm of torque.
The electric scooter is expected to be powered by a lithium-ion battery. More details like the battery type and range are unknown. Mahindra has teamed up with GenZe in the US market to manufacture electric bicycles and scooters. Prices start from $1499 (approximately Rs. 98,000/-) for the e101 Sport electric bicycle and $2999 (approximately Rs. 1,97,000/-) for GenZe 2.0 electric scooter.
Meanwhile, Mahindra is also working on a low-cost variant of the Mojo. The flagship bike from Mahindra was spotted testing on Indian roads recently.
